I’ve made it no secret on this blog how much I love the band Phish. However, I haven’t spoken as much about my epic and equal love affair with Michael Jackson’s music. Like literally millions of people around the world, Michael’s music has inspired me and changed my life in so many ways. He was the reason I wanted to learn how to dance. His music is timeless, classic and as close to perfection as music can get.
The last video I put out, a cover of Phish’s “Limb by Limb” featuring one of their famous jams from from 1999, the “Boise Ac/Dc bag”, got so many wonderful comments and shares from the Phish community that I had to put out another Phish cover, this time, paying homage to Michael Jackson as well.
Phish’s song Ghost felt like a perfect song to capture a Michael-esque groove. While Off the Wall and Thriller are my favorite Michael Jackson albums, I’m also a huge fan of Dangerous and HIStory as well and the sound of those albums was a perfect match for Ghost. I even tucked in some samples of Michael’s ad libs throughout the song.
So, without further adieu, here is a Michael Jackson inspired version of “Ghost, feat. the 12/31/2010 Holy Ghost from Madison Square Garden.”
